Les Jardins de Quatre Vents

These world famous gardens located in La Malbaie in the Charlevoix region of Québec will be illustrated in amazing detail using interactive panoramic photography in an upcoming CD- publication "Immersive Photography of Les Jardins de Quatre Vents", by David Gibson of ETPanorama.

These examples are also a demo version of some "transition" panoramas using the Spi-V viewer (pronounced "spiffy", Shockwave panorama viewer).

To view SpiV panoramas you will need a good computer equipped with at least 64 M of video ram (v-ram). Most newer computers have this already built-in. On windows PCs you may see the graphic controller in the control panel under "other options". On the Macintosh, you can find out about the graphics card by clicking on the apple icon up in the top left corner, then clicking on "more info". Note: on intel Macs, you must run Safari in Rosetta mode. See note on Adobe website here

When you click on the links below, you may be prompted to download and install the latest version of "shockwave plugin". You must do this in order to view the panoramas. It will take about 5-10 minutes on a slow connection. You may have to exit the browser and restart then return to this page after installing the plugin.

These panoramas of the white garden and of the pigeonnier are each made with two separate panoramas, one shot on July 9, the other on October 13. The camera positions were not identical, as I had not marked my spots, but they are close enough to give you a good idea of the possibilities. In future, and for panoramas that will be part of the publication, precise alignment will be made.

A third panorama is one I took here in North Hatley. The day photo was taken Dec. 31, while the night photo was taken Dec. 16th. I was lucky to get a quite good alignment.
